Hoggard announces 2014 schedule

Posted Tuesday, August 12, 2014 by Tim Hower
Hoggard girls tennis coach Michael Bowen has announced the team's 17-match schedule, which includes potential contests against some of the state’s top programs.
The Vikings return four starters from last year’s team that finished with a 10-6 record.
In its opener, Hoggard will host Dixon in the first round of the annual Port City Invitational. Also participating in the event are defending 3A champion Cardinal Gibbons and perennial 4A power East Chapel Hill.
The Vikings will compete in 12 Mideastern Conference matches. New Hanover is the defending conference champions, while Laney also returns four starters from its team that finished tied for second with Hoggard last season.
Along with the Port City Invitational, the Vikings will have a pair of additional non-conference matches with Cape Fear Academy. The Rebels won the only meeting between the schools, 6-3, last year.
