Vikings win 4 1/2 hour marathon vs. Laney

Posted Tuesday, October 07, 2014 by Tim Hower
It took four and a half hours, but Hoggard claimed a 5-4 victory at Laney after claiming a pair of doubles matches.

The teams split six singles matches on Tuesday. Laney took the lead after an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles before the Vikings evened things with an 8-6 win at 1.

At No. 3 doubles, Hoggard's Hannah Marable and Lindsay Diab rallied from an early deficit to earn a 9-7 victory. Marable's cross-court winner clinched it.

Hoggard (11-5, 9-2 Mideastern) avenged a 5-4 loss to the Bucs earlier in the season and moved into sole possession of second place in the conference with one match remaining.

The Vikings moved to 4-1 on the season in 5-4 matches.

Next up for Hoggard is a home match against West Brunswick on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
